First: Anthropic explained how Claude’s upcoming text watermarking will work. Future Claude models will generate text with a statistical watermark so third parties can estimate whether Claude helped write it. Anthropic says this is tied to the EU AI Act, and that a detection API is coming. Generated image files will also carry signed content credentials. Translation: AI provenance is becoming product infrastructure, not just a trust-and-safety footnote. The catch is obvious: once detection APIs exist, employers, schools, and platforms will use them — sometimes carefully, sometimes like a hammer discovering drywall.

Second: Google is making visible watermarks optional for AI media created in Gemini and Flow. Users can toggle off the “Media watermark” setting for images, video, and music.
